We observed backward-wave spontaneous parametric downconversion in sub-µm periodically poled Rb-doped KTP. Pumped at 800 nm, forward-wave signal at 1400 nm and backward-wave idler at 1868 nm were obtained.

We present a study of noncritical phasematching in thin-film, periodically poled lithium niobate waveguides. Noncritical phasematching relaxes fabrication tolerances and is needed for long devices or when ideal tuning curves are required.

Entangled photons produced by parametric down-conversion effectively have two down-conversion paths. Ideally, amplitudes of the two paths are matched. We show that the entanglement visibility is, to first order, insensitive to amplitude mismatch.
