M(iii)–O and M(iii)–N interaction in [M(Et-Pic)3]3+ (M = Ln and Am; Et-Pic: N,N,N′,N′-tetraethyl-2,6-carboxamidopyridine) complexes were studied. NMR and TRLFS data suggest an increased partial covalent interaction in the An(iii)–N bond.
