Natural behaviors have redundancy, which implies that humans and animals can achieve their goals with different control strategies. Given only observations of behavior, is it possible to infer the control strategy that the subject is employing? This

We derive the s- and z-plane pole regions for continuous-time and discrete-time LTI systems to yield resonance. In this way, resonance can be identified by visual inspection of the pole-zero plot, without the need for calculations.

Based on a quantum mechanical approach, we investigate moment- (or M-) indeterminate probability densities by way of the characteristic function and self-adjoint operators. The approach leads to new methods to construct classes of M-indeterminate pro

Due to the waveguide nature of the ocean surface and bottom, sounds propagating in shallow water can undergo frequency-dependent distortion (specifically, dispersion). This distortion manifests as changes in the instantaneous frequency of the sound,

Sounds propagating in shallow water can undergo frequency-dependent changes, specifically damping and dispersion. Phase space analysis and approximations have yielded a clear physical picture of these frequency-dependent effects. In particular, in po

The aim of this study was to identify charged amino acid residues important for activity of the sulfate transporter SHST1. We mutated 10 charged amino acids in or near proposed transmembrane helices and expressed the resulting mutants in a sulfate tr
