The surface of a thin‐film disk can be patterned using standard lithographic techniques to form discrete tracks as narrow as 0.5 μm. These studies have been extended to patterns formed when an etched track is broken into discrete segments by etchi

The magnetic moment of negative muons bound in atoms of carbon, oxygen (in water), magnesium (metallic and in Mg${\mathrm{H}}_{2}$), silicon, and sulfur has been measured with a precision ranging from 3\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}${10}^{\ensure

Techniques for measuring mu meson magnetic moments were refined and applied to positive and (bound) negative muons in materials. An apparatus diagram and tabular and graphical representations of data are given. Statistical accuracy of several pants p

It has been shown that certain materials, because of their ability to rotate the polarization vector of plane polarized light, can be applied to very large data-stores. One such material (iron-doped europium oxide) requires an operating temperature b

The magnetic moment of the positive muon has been redetermined in terms of proton moments using a precession technique. The sensitivity achieved yields an error of 13 parts per million. The muons are stopped in various targets in a homogeneous magnet

Discrete magnetic tracks with widths as narrow as 0.5 μm have been formed by etching the surface of Co-alloy film disks. Transitions can be written and read back from widely spaced discrete tracks using conventional heads. A linear variation of puls
