This article addresses the problem of the optimal M-QAM order in a realistic energy model. Our researches focus on the power amplifier (PA) equation, which depends on transmission power, drain efficiency and peak-to-average ratio. These last two elem

In wireless networks, the cooperative diversity is an implicit form of space diversity commonly used when other conventional transmit diversity methods might not be practical. It was largely proved that cooperative transmission, where a source and a

We report on a simple alternative method for the compensation of quadrature imbalance in optical quadrature phase-shift-keying (QPSK) coherent systems. By introducing a new metric, the phase imbalance can be determined and compensated. The proposed m

We propose a new modified decision-directed carrier recovery loop suitable for 16-QAM optical transmission systems. Statistical tools (S-curve) and experiments at 11-Gbaud show its benefits compared to the standard decision-directed approach.
