The Atr-Check1 pathway is involved in cell cycle and the DNA damage response. Here, the authors show that the Atr-Check1 pathway can inhibit axon regeneration in response to Piezo-mediated mechanosensation, affecting functional recovery.

Abstract Background Pax7 is a transcription factor involved in the specification and maintenance of muscle stem cells (MuSCs). Upon injury, MuSCs leave their quiescent state, downregulate Pax7 and differentiate, contributing to skeletal muscle regene

Most tissues in our bodies undergo constant cellular turnover. This process requires a dynamic balance between cell production and elimination. Stem cells have been shown in many of these tissues to be the major source of new cells. However, despite

Loss of vision due to corneal endothelial dysfunction affects millions worldwide and has limited treatment options. Here we present a proof of concept for a therapeutic approach that aims to enhance regeneration of the corneal endothelium by inducing

The skin has a pronounced ability to adapt to physical changes in the environment by exhibiting plasticity at the cellular level. Transient mechanical deformations applied to the skin are accommodated without permanent changes to tissue structure. Ho

The discovery of slow-cycling cells at the corneal periphery three decades ago established the limbus as the putative corneal stem cell niche. Since then, studies have underscored the importance of the limbal stem cells in maintaining the health and

Muscle stem cells (MuSCs) are essential for tissue homeostasis and regeneration, but the potential contribution of MuSC morphology to in vivo function remains unknown. Here, we demonstrate that quiescent MuSCs are morphologically heterogeneous and ex

Atr is a serine/threonine kinase, known to sense single-stranded DNA breaks and activate the DNA damage checkpoint by phosphorylating Chek1, which inhibits Cdc25, causing cell cycle arrest. This pathway has not been implicated in neuroregeneration. W

Innervation plays a pivotal role as a driver of tissue and organ development as well as a means for their functional control and modulation. Therefore, innervation should be carefully considered throughout the process of biofabrication of engineered
