The cytokines granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM- CSF), interleukin (IL)-3, and IL-5 are important modulators of eosinophilia and eosinophil function. Eosinophil chemotaxis is known to be particularly sensitive for cytokine priming.
