The history of colluvial events over the last 8500 years is reconstructed in three Norwegian alpine slope-foot mires fed by three independent debris-flow systems. Chronologies for each site are constructed based on 155 radiocarbon-dated peat samples.

New stratigraphic evidence for the Holocene history of three glaciers in central Jotunheimen, southern Norway, is presented and the implications for century- to millennial-scale glacier and climatic variability are considered. Minerogenic layers in s

This study attempts to reconstruct the Holocene glacier history of Breheimen, southern Norway from four stream-bank mire sites and a downstream lake sediment core near Sota Sæter, based on lithostratigraphy, sediment properties (loss-on-ignition (LO

Holocene variations of Bjornbreen, Smorstabbtinden massif, west-central Jotunheimen are reconstructed from the lithostratigraphy of two alpine stream-bank mires flooded episodically by meltwater. The approach uses multiple sedimentological indicators

Moraine sequences in front of seven relatively low-altitude glaciers in the Breheimen region of central southern Norway are described and dated using a ‘multi-proxy’ approach to moraine stratigraphy. Lichenometric dating, based on the Rhizocarpon

The cycad Dioon edule Lindl. inhabits a seasonally-dry tropical forest along with associated CAM plants such as bromeliads and cacti. To test the hypothesis that D. edule might also be a CAM plant, diel total-acid fluctuation was measured through the

A stratigraphic succession of alternating peat and minerogenic sediments at the foot of a steep mountain slope provides the basis for the reconstruction of a preliminary colluvial history from the alpine zone of Jotunheimen, southern Norway. Layers o
A large number of radiocarbon dates from charcoal layers buried beneath stacked solifluction lobes at Pippokangas, in the northern boreal zone of Finnish Lapland, are used to reconstruct a Holocene history of solifluction. Although the site is surrou

Eighteen radiocarbon age determinations are presented from a single horizon (FH) of a humo-ferric podzol that was buried beneath the outermost Neoglacial end moraine of the southern Norwegian glacier, Haugabreen. Thin slices of this organic-rich surf
