Excavations undertaken in 1982,1984 and 1985 on cropmark sites of a promontory fort and nearby palisaded homestead revealed structural remains mainly of the Iron Age and evidence of occupation or other activity from the Mesolithic to the present day.

Summary This promontory fort on the Cromarty Firth in northeast Scotland may have been built as early as the 6th century be but secondary use occurred in the 10th or 11th centuries ad. There were no finds from these early occupations.
