[Ru(TAP) 2 (dppz)] 2+ (TAP = 1,4,5,8-tetraazaphenanthrene; dppz = dipyrido[3,2-a:2′,3′-c]phenazine) is known to photo-oxidize guanine in DNA. Whether this oxidation proceeds by direct photoelectron transfer or by proton-coupled electron transfer

To understand the molecular origins of diseases caused by ultraviolet and visible light, and also to develop photodynamic therapy, it is important to resolve the mechanism of photoinduced DNA damage. Damage to DNA bound to a photosensitizer molecule

The ground- and excited-state interactions of Pt(ii) meso-tetrakis(4-N-methylpyridyl)porphyrin (PtTMPyP4) with polynucleotides [poly(dG-dC)]2 and [poly(dA-dT)]2 have been investigated using UV/visible, circular dichroism, and steady-state and time-re
