Survival and virulence of the human malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum during the blood stage of infection critically depend on extensive host cell refurbishments mediated through export of numerous parasite proteins into the host cell. The paras

In a genome-wide screen for alpha-helical coiled coil motifs aiming at structurally defined vaccine candidates we identified PFF0165c. This protein is exported in the trophozoite stage and was named accordingly Trophozoite exported protein 1 (Tex1).

Infections caused by non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) are reported as emerging disease in many countries worldwide. The occurrence of NTM in different hosts and their implication as obligate or opportunistic pathogen remain largely unclear. Lymph n

SummaryDuring red-blood-cell-stage infection of Plasmodium falciparum, the parasite undergoes repeated rounds of replication, egress, and invasion. Erythrocyte invasion involves specific interactions between host cell receptors and parasite ligands a

In this study, 210 intestinal Escherichia (E.) coli isolates from enteropathogenic diseased pigs were screened for their virulence factors (F4, F5, F6, F18, STa, STb, LT, STx2e and intimin) by PCR and serogrouped by slide-agglutination (O8:K87, O45,

A new family of pentacyclic compounds incorporating a central 1,2-dihydropyridine core is obtained through a pseudo three-component reaction. Four new bonds and two stereocenters with trans relationship are produced during the cascade process under p

Background: The post genomic era of malaria research provided unprecedented insights into the biology of Plasmodium parasites. Due to the large evolutionary distance to model eukaryotes however we lack a profound understanding of many processes in Pl
