Active safety systems will have a great impact in the next generation of vehicles. This is partly originated by the increasing consumer's interest for safety and partly by new traffic safety laws. Control actions in the vehicle are based on an extens

The ion adsorption properties of muscovite mica were exploited to prepare higher resolution alpha-spectroscopy samples of 242Pu. The samples prepared by our method are compared to those prepared using electrodeposition methods in terms of their energ

We discuss the finite density properties of baby- and Quantum-Hall Skyrmions, using a thermodynamic approach, and a related simulated annealing technique. We show how we can find similar behaviour in both models, and also discuss possible extensions.

The search for solutions of field theories allowing for topological solitons requires that we find the field configuration with the lowest energy in a given sector of topological charge. The standard approach is based on the numerical solution of the

We discuss calculations of the phase diagram of the baby-Skyrme model, a two-dimensional version of the model that has been so successful in the description of baryons. Contact is made with the sine Gordon model in 1D, and relations with the Skyrme m

We discuss the calculation of the phase diagram for the 2D Skyrme model, as a first step towards that of the 3D model. This should give us access to the behavior of baryonic matter at finite densities and temperatures.
