We present an experimental study of optical time-refraction caused by time-interfaces as short as a single optical cycle. Specifically, we study the propagation of a probe pulse through a sample undergoing a large refractive index change induced by a

We introduce topological phases in photonic space-time crystals, which have gaps in both momentum and frequency. We show that edge states waves refracted and reflected from spatial and temporal interfaces are governed by topological invariants.

Photonic Time-Crystals (PTCs) are materials in which the refractive index varies periodically and abruptly in time. This medium exhibits unusual properties such as momentum bands separated by gaps within which waves can be amplified exponentially, ex

Far-UVC light can enable virus-deactivation while remaining harmless to human tissues. This triggered great efforts to create far-UVC light sources with sufficient emission power and efficiency. However, current sources, such as mercury lamps, KrCl e

UV lamps are of increasing importance for safe virus disinfection. Here we propose a novel concept for UV sources based on a stack of phosphor-nanolayers, designed to maximize the output emission through photonic local-density-of-states engineering.

Scintillators are central for detection of γ-ray, x-ray, and high energy particles in various applications, all seeking higher scintillation yield and rate. However, these are limited by the intrinsic isotropy of spontaneous emission of the scintill
