Cooling down nanomechanical force probes is a generic strategy to enhance their sensitivities through the concomitant reduction of their thermal noise and mechanical damping rates. However, heat conduction becomes less efficient at low temperatures,

International audience; In canonical optomechanical systems, mechanical vibrations are dynamically encoded on an optical probe field, which reciprocally exerts a backaction force. Because of the weak single-photon coupling strength achieved with macr

A single quantum system comprising a nitrogen-vacancy in diamond is now coupled to a nanowire cantilever. Magnetic fields can then couple the nitrogen-vacancy spin and the oscillator enabling read-out of the nanometre-scale motion.

Reminiscent of the bound character of a qubit's dynamics confined on the Bloch sphere, the observation of a Mollow triplet in the resonantly driven qubit fluorescence spectrum represents one of the founding signatures of quantum electrodynamics. Here

In an optical interferometer, a part of the laser power is absorbed by the mirrors and gives rise to surface displacements through thermal expansion. The position measurement sensitivity is, therefore, limited by the shot noise of the absorbed radiat

We explore the vectorial optomechanical interaction between a nanowire and a focused beam of light. The nanowire is sensitive to the topological variations of the focused laser force field which dramatically modify the phenomenology of the dynamical
