Abstract Calorie restriction (CR) and treatment with rapamycin (RM), an inhibitor of the mTORC1 growth-promoting signaling pathway, are known to slow aging and promote health from worms to humans. At the transcriptome and proteome levels, long-term C

Summary: Stemness and pluripotency are mediated by transcriptional master regulators that promote self-renewal and repress cell differentiation, among which is the high-mobility group (HMG) box transcription factor SOX2. Dysregulated SOX2 expression,

Background: Myocardial injury has been described in coronavirus-2019 (COVID-19). Few studies have reported cardiovascular imaging data with transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) and electrocardiography (ECG) findings in COVID-19 patients, and their co

Exploring the relationship between mTORC1 and the ubiquitin-proteasome system, light is shed on the paradox between mTORC1-mediated muscle hypertrophy induced by PKB/Akt and the muscle atrophy induced by mTORC1 alone.

The anti-aging intervention calorie restriction (CR) is thought to act via the nutrient-sensing multiprotein complex mTORC1. Here the authors show that the mTORC1-inhibitor rapamycin and CR use largely distinct mechanisms to slow mouse muscle aging.

SRSF1 is an oncoprotein that plays important roles in RNA metabolism. We reveal the structure of the human SRSF1 RRM1 bound to RNA, and propose a bimodal mode of interaction of the protein with RNA. A single mutation in RRM1 changed SRSF1 specificity

mTORC1 expression is increased during ageing of muscle, and on the other hand, its activation promotes muscle hypertrophy. Here, the authors assess whether mTORC1 has positive or negative effects on ageing, and show that its long-term inhibition pres
