Diode lasers with effective x2 nonlinearity of 36 pm/V are designed and fabricated for facilitating phase-matching and on-chip pumping of parametric processes. A record DFG conversion efficiency of 169%W-1cm-2 is demonstrated with tuning over 200 nm.
