Scattering-type scanning near-field optical microscopy enables the measurement of optical constants of a surface beyond the diffraction limit. Its compatibility with pulsed sources is hampered by the requirement of a high-repetition rate imposed by l

The International Conference on Ultrafast Phenomena (UP) 2022.
We present quadrature-assisted discrete demodulation, which circumvents constraints imposed on the repetition rate by lock-in detection. The method enables pseudo-heterodyne near-field microscopy with kHz fs laser systems.

Intrinsic absorption in a waveguiding material is often considered an undesirable effect that severely limits wave propagation. However, with appropriate design of the cladding, waveguides can be made from highly absorbing materials, to the degree th

We demonstrate by the means of two dimensional two photon k-space spectroscopy that two photon absorption in CdSe nanoplatelets is highly directional. 85% of the concatenated absorption dipoles are in-plane oriented. We show that this strong anisotro

We report an experimental method to control large-area air-gaps in the nanometer range for evanescent coupling of light to surface waves such as surface plasmon polaritons or surface phonon polaritons. With the help of spectrally resolved white-light

Propagating surface plasmons in the laboratory can have basic properties quite different from those of the ideal surface plasmon polariton, which is a bound mode at the interface between two infinite media. Features such as field confinement and prop

Optical media endowed with large nonlinear susceptibilities are highly prized for their employment in frequency conversion and the generation of nonclassical states of light. Although the presence of an optical resonance can greatly increase the nonl

Quantum state tomography is applied to InGaAs quantum dot-semiconductor optical amplifiers (QD-SOA) to reconstruct the Wigner function and photon statistics for a coherent state interacting with QDs with high time-resolution and in the few-emitter li
