In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome of Neopagetopsis ionah was obtained, which was 17,634 bp including two ribosomal RNAs, 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNAs, and a non-coding control region. In 13 protein-coding genes, there type

A breeding colony of notothenioid icefish (Neopagetopsis ionah, Nybelin 1947) of globally unprecedented extent has been discovered in the southern Weddell Sea, Antarctica. The colony was estimated to cover at least ∼240 km2 of the eastern flank of

Due to its remote and isolated location, Antarctica is home to a unique diversity of species. The harsh conditions have shaped a primarily highly adapted endemic fauna. This includes the notothenioid family Channichthyidae. Their exceptional physiolo
