Aluminum nitride (AlN) holds great promise as a substrate for electronic devices such as high-power switches, high power density, high frequency and high operating temperature devices for RF. This promise is largely due to its superior properties, fo

Steep retrograde doping devices were fabricated using undoped epitaxial Si channels with inserted oxygen layers. The effects of boron transient enhanced diffusion (TED) on threshold voltage (Vth) mismatch were investigated. Suppression of boron TED w

Direction-controlled growth of horizontally aligned single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) on r-plane sapphire substrates and their alignment mechanisms are demonstrated. On a flat r-plane substrate, anisotropic nanotube−substrate interaction is kn

On single-crystal substrates, such as sapphire (alpha-Al 2O 3) and quartz (SiO 2), single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) align along specific crystallographic axes of the crystal, indicating that the SWNT growth is influenced by the crystal surface.

Branched Pt nanoparticles with nanometer sizes have been successfully synthesized by reduction of H2PtCl6 center dot 6H(2)O precursor in ethylene glycol (EG) in the presence of small amounts of NaNO3 and PVP Morphologies of the Pt nanoparticles can b

Horizontally aligned growth of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) on single-crystal surfaces has attracted great interest in terms of nanoelectronic applications, but their growth mechanism is not fully understood. We report on the 13C/12C isotop

Shape and size controlled synthesis of gold nanocrystals have been studied by using a microwave (MW)-polyol method. When Au3+ in HAuCl4·4H2O was reduced in ethylene glycol (EG) in the presence of poly(vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP) at a low HAuCl4 concentr

We demonstrate that an aligned multi-walled carbon nanotube array can immobilize Hela cells through insertion of the nanotube tips into the cell. The cells were immobilized by pressing onto the nanotube array with the aid of mild centrifugal force. T
