We discuss the use of a region of uniform and constant magnetic field in order to implement a two-state atomic polarizer for an H(2S) beam. We have observed that a device with such field configuration is capable of achieving an efficient polarization

We show that two-particle interferences can be used to probe the nuclear motion in a doubly-excited hydrogen molecule. The dissociation of molecular hydrogen by electron impact involves several decay channels, associated to different molecular rotati

We present a review of electron detachment cross sections of atomic, molecular, and cluster anionic projectiles colliding with atoms and molecules, the main focus being on reporting systematic experimental studies. These studies use an experimental m
In this paper we report calculations of potential energy curves in the $1.2 a.u.\le R\le100 a.u.$ range at Multireference Configuration Interaction (MRCI) level for doubly excited states of the H$_2$ molecule. We have focused on the $Q_2$ states whic

We measured the vapour pressure of several DNA and RNA bases—uracil, adenine, guanine, thymine and cytosine—in the 300–450 K range. In each case the sample mass loss rate was measured as function of temperature with a simple setup consisting of

Negative-ion beams have recently been suggested as sources of high-energy heavy atoms to be used as drivers for inertial confinement fusion (ICF). Owing to their electron affinities limited to a few eV, anions can be efficiently photo-detached in the

The electron-detachment cross section was measured for the molecular negative ions ${\mathrm{CN}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ and ${\mathrm{O}}_{2}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ incident on N${}_{2}$, in the 0.08\char21{}1.2 a.u. velocity region. Our setup uses the gas st

A simple method is proposed for measuring cross-sections of fast negative atomic and molecular ions colliding with atoms and molecules. The method, applicable to tandem accelerators, uses the stripping process of the negative ions, occurring at the g
