The production of neutral pions has been studied in the 16 O+ 27 Al, 58 Ni, 208 Pb reactions at 95 MeV/nucleon. Inclusive pion differential distributions d σ d p t , d σ d T π , and d σ d Ω have been measured by detecting the two-pion decay γ-r

A microscopic method for determining the coefficients of a fourth-order boson expansion of the Hamiltonian is used to obtain angular momentum projected states, their energies, and electric quadrupole properties. A Tabakin potential is used in applyin

Differential inelastic cross sections for 12C(π, π') at an incident pion energy of 50 MeV have been measured from 30° to 130° (lab). Results for the 01+ → 02+ monopole transition provide evidence for the EELL effect and the suppression of multi

The structure of some light, odd-mass Pd isotopes is calculated and compared with experiment. The method uses a renormalized Tabakin potential in a deformed Hartree-Fock calculation, followed by a BCS calculation, to generate deformed quasiparticles.

A new way of dealing with the unwanted high momentum components in low energy pion-nucleus optical potentials is presented. The method is developed strictly in accordance with a principle of “smoothness” which has been found very helpful in other

It is shown that the two-step (p, d) (d, t) mechanism can provide a satisfactory description of some “forbidden” (p, t) reactions leading to unnatural parity final states. The effect of this mechanism on allowed ground-state to ground-state trans

The projected quasiboson model developed in a previous paper is extended to triaxial nuclei. Energy levels and electromagnetic properties are calculated and results presented for even-even Ba isotopes, A = 130--136.

A 12 C ( π , π ′ γ ) angular correlation experiment at T π = 65 and 90 MeV from the 2 1 + state state was used to study the pion-nucleus reaction mechanism. The results indicate that the 2 1 + transition proceeds only through the nuclear matter

The low-lying states of 12 C and 16 O are investigated using realistic effective interactions within the α-cluster model of Brink. Angular momentum projection is performed and a limited Hill-Wheeler integral is carried out over a mode called the hin
