The childhood cerebral form of adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) is a fatal demyelinating disease, yet mice deficient in the ALD gene do not show such clinicopathological phenotype. We have therefore investigated in human autopsy tissues whether the ALD gen

Nanometer-sized gold nanoparticles have been prepared and surface-modified in order to stabilize alkane-in-water emulsions. A mixed hexane-undecanol ligand layer at the surface of the nanoparticles allowed us to tune their wettability and thus the ad

Single particle light scattering (SPLS) has been extended towards sizes near 100 nm to measure particle size distributions with high precision and model free and thus to establish a diagnostic about the stage of aging emulsion properties. SPLS measur

International audience; In the central nervous system (CNS) of man, evolutionary pressure has preserved some capability for remyelination while axonal regeneration is very limited. In contrast, two efficient programmes of regeneration exist in the ad

We show that analytical ultracentrifugation can be applied to derive full equations of state of colloids in a single sedimentation equilibrium experiment, by determination of single-phase boundaries as well as of osmotic pressure versus concentration

Osmotic pressure is a key parameter to understand the thermodynamics and the interactions in colloidal systems. We present here four examples to demonstrate the variety of information that can be extracted from it. The equation of state, i.e. the osm
