The equivalent photon approximation is used to calculate fiducial cross sections for dimuon production in ultraperipheral proton–proton and lead–lead collisions. Analytic formulas taking experimental cuts into account are derived. The results are

Several problems of phenomenological supersymmetry are considered, including the hierarchy problem; gauge coupling unification; proton decay in Grand Unification Theory; Higgs boson spectrum and the upper bound on the lightest Higgs boson mass; and d

Neutrinos of finite mass surviving from the big bang may undergo observable radiative decay. Recent observations place lower limits on the neutrino lifetime. The effects of galactic opacity on the photons resulting from such decays are discussed.
