Shape Memory Alloys (SMAs) are a class of smart materials that exhibit a macroscopic contraction of up to 5% when heated via an electric current. This effect can be exploited for the development of novel unconventional actuators. Despite having many

In this paper, a hybrid model for single-crystal Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) wire actuators is presented. The result is based on a mathematical reformulation of the M\"uller-Achenbach-Seelecke (MAS) model, which provides an accurate and interconnection-

In this paper, we present a novel hybrid dynamical model for hysteretic actuators consisting of spring-loaded Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) wires. The hybrid description is obtained by reformulating a set of physics-based ODEs resulting from the Muller-Ac

In this paper we present a control-oriented model for an actuator system driven by a shape memory alloy (SMA) wire. SMAs appear as suitable for the realization of compact actuator solutions, due to the inherently high energy density of the material.
