We present the coherent beam combination of four 2100 nm holmium amplifiers with their phase controlled through acousto-optic modulators driven by the RF output of direct digital synthesizer chips. Phase alignment was achieved through the use of a fi

Holmium fibre lasers are required for remote sensing, LIDAR and some medical applications [1]. In addition, pulsed Holmium fibre lasers also offer an attractive power scalable alternative to Ho:YAG and Ho:YLF lasers for pumping mid-infrared optical p

We present a single-mode, 2.09 μm holmium-doped silica fibre laser resonantly pumped by a 1.95 μm thulium-doped fibre laser. The slope efficiency of 87% versus absorbed power is to our knowledge the highest reported to date.

Resonantly pumped holmium fibre lasers present a range of opportunities for the development of novel fibre laser and amplifier devices due to the availability of mature, efficient high power thulium fibre pump lasers. In this paper we describe the op

We present the first fiber laser fabricated from an extruded microstructured preform. This laser is also, to the best of our knowledge, the first microstructured tellurite glass fiber laser. The threshold and efficiency of the 980-nm pumped, 1.5-mu m

Reducing the hydroxyl group content in tellurite glass fibers is essential to exploit the intrinsic mid-infrared transparency of tellurite glass for optical fiber devices. We report the first extruded tellurite glass fibers with low hydroxyl (OH) gro
