The relative ground state vibrational population distributions of BaO formed in the chemical reactions Ba+O2 and Ba+N2O have been measured as a function of total pressure between 0.3 and 10 torr using the technique of dye laser induced photoluminesce

BaO molecules were sequentially excited by collinearly propagating radiation from two cw lasers, an argon ion laser (488.0 and 496.5‐nm lines) and a tunable (560–630 nm) rhodamine 6G dye laser. This sequential excitation technique, called optical

The vibrational population distribution of X 1Σ(υ′' = 0 through ν′' = 7) BaO formed in the reaction Ba + O2 at 0.3 torr has been measured by laser induced photoluminescence intensities. On the basis of the assumed similarity between the Ba + O

Experiments have been performed to examine the importance of metastable Ba(3D) as the key reactant leading to BaO(A→X) chemiluminescence in the Ba+N2O reaction. It has been found that the steady state concentration of Ba(3D) increases substantially
