Since the discovery of camelid heavy-chain antibodies in 1993, there has been tremendous excitement for these antibody domains (VHHs/sdAbs/nanobodies) as research tools, diagnostics, and therapeutics. Commercially, several patents were granted to pio

Tremendous effort has been expended over the past two and a half decades to understand many aspects of camelid heavy chain antibodies, from their biology, evolution, and immunogenetics to their potential applications in various fields of research and

Abstract Genetic studies have identified the voltage‐gated sodium channel 1.7 (Nav1.7) as pain target. Due to the ineffectiveness of small molecules and monoclonal antibodies as therapeutics for pain, single‐domain antibodies (VHHs) are developed

Staphylococcal protein A (SpA) and streptococcal protein G (SpG) affinity chromatography are the gold standards for purifying monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) in therapeutic applications. However, camelid VHH single-domain Abs (sdAbs or VHHs) are not bou

Small recombinant antibody fragments (e.g. scFvs and VHHs), which are highly tissue permeable, are being investigated for antivenom production as conventional antivenoms consisting of IgG or F(ab')2 antibody fragments do not effectively neutralize ve

Single-domain antibodies (sdAbs) derived from human V(H) are considered to be less soluble and prone to aggregate which makes it difficult to determine the crystal structures. In this study, we isolated and characterized two anti-human epidermal grow

Genetic immunization is a simple, cost-effective, and powerful tool for inducing innate and adaptive immune responses to combat infectious diseases and difficult-to-treat illnesses. DNA immunization is increasingly used in the generation of monoclona

Overexpression of Axl, a TAM-family receptor tyrosine kinase, plays key roles in the formation, growth, and spread of tumors as well as resistance to targeted therapies and chemotherapies. We identified novel llama VHHs against human Axl using multip

Single-domain antibodies (sdAbs), the variable domains of camelid heavy chain-only antibodies, are generally thought to poorly recognize nonproteinaceous small molecules and carbohydrates in comparison with conventional antibodies. However, the struc
