We prove a characterization of the Dirichlet-Ferguson measure over an arbitrary finite diffuse measure space. We provide an interpretation of this characterization in analogy with the Mecke identity for Poisson point processes.

An analogue of the classical Mecke formula for Poisson point processes is proved for the class of space-time STIT tessellation processes. From this key identity the Markov property of a class of associated random processes is derived. This in turn is

In this paper we assess how well users know biometric authentication methods, how they perceive them, and if they have misconceptions about them. We present the results of an online survey that we conducted in two rounds (2019, N=57; and 2023, N=47)

Many important decisions in our everyday lives, such as authentication via biometric models, are made by Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems. These can be in poor alignment with human expectations, and testing them on clear-cut existing data may not

Chiral active fluids show the emergence of a turbulent behavior characterized by multiple dynamic vortices whose maximum size is specific for each experimental system. This is in contrast to hydrodynamic simulations in which the size of vortices is o

For a compact and convex window, Mecke described a process of tessellations which arise from cell divisions in discrete time. At each time step, one of the existing cells is selected according to an equally-likely law. Independently, a line is thrown

The STIT tessellation process was introduced and examined by Mecke, Nagel and Wei{\ss}; many of its main characteristics are contained in a paper published by Nagel and Wei{\ss} in 2005. In a paper published in 2010, Mecke introduced another process
