International audience; We identified the genes encoding the proteins for the transport of glucose and maltose in Neisseria meningitidis strain 2C4-3. A mutant deleted for NMV_1892(glcP) no longer grew on glucose and deletion of NMV_0424(malY) preven

BackgroundIn many bacteria, the phosphotransferase system (PTS) is a key player in the regulation of the assimilation of alternative carbon sources notably through catabolic repression. The intracellular pathogens Brucella spp. possess four PTS prote

The entire genome of Lactobacillus casei BL23, a strain with probiotic properties, has been sequenced. The genomes of BL23 and the industrially used probiotic strain Shirota YIT 9029 (Yakult) seem to be very similar.

When carrying out a proteome analysis with a ptsH3 mutant of Lactobacillus casei, we found that the cold shock protein CspA was significantly overproduced compared to the wild-type strain. We also noticed that CspA and CspB of L. casei and CSPs from
