After perfusing isolated livers of Zucker fa/fa and Fa/- rats with loads of [9,10-3H2] oleic acid (346 μmol) and [1-14C] glycerol (115 μmol), glycerol inhibited the hepatic secretion of triacylglycerols and phospholipids in the two groups of rats.
