SummaryCtenium bennae Xanthos is described and illustrated as the only rheophytic species in the genus. The new species is known from a single waterfall on the Benna Plateau, at the border between Forecariah and Kindia Prefectures in Guinea Conakry.

Ardisia ebo Cheek sp. nov. (Myrsinaceae) is described as a creeping African subshrub. Its taxonomic affinities are discussed and its conservation status assessed using the IUCN Red List Categories and Criteria (2001) as Endangered.
