Abstract Strongly correlated electron materials are often characterized by competition and interplay of multiple quantum states. For example, in high-temperature cuprate superconductors unconventional superconductivity, spin- and charge-density wave

The competition between the formation of different phases and their kinetics need to be clearly understood to make materials with on-demand and multifaceted properties. Here, the authors reveal, by a combination of complementary in situ techniques, t

Understanding the nucleation and growth mechanisms of nanocrystals under hydro- and solvothermal conditions is key to tailoring functional nanomaterials. High-energy and high-flux synchrotron radiation is ideal for characterization by powder X-ray di

We report a characteristic spin-glass-like behavior in Sr3NiSb2O9, as confirmed from the low-field dc magnetometry and ac susceptibility measurements. The memory effects in the dc magnetometry exhibit similar characteristic features of the spin-glass
