Exploiting topological insulator surface states in electronic devices requires an understanding of the factors that affect transport. Here, the authors use scanning tunnelling potentiometry to determine the contributions of different kinds of surface

Coexistence of a topological insulator phase and a topological crystalline insulator phase helps to maintain topological properties under a controlled symmetry breaking perturbation. Here, Eschbacket al. report a superlattice of Bi and Bi2Te3to be su

We retrieve the local dielectric function of a fewnanometer-thick surface layer on the three-dimensional topological insulator (Bi 0.5 Sb 0.5 ) 2 Te 3 using mid-infrared nanotomography. Thereby, we identify the contributions of two types of surface s

Three-dimensional topological insulators (TIs) have become an interesting platform for future high-speed electronics. The massless Dirac fermions in topologically protected surface states (TSSs) feature a chiral spin texture, which gives rise to inhe

We report non-equilibrium magnetodynamics in the Rashba-superconductor GeTe, which lacks inversion symmetry in the bulk. We find that at low temperature the system exhibits a non-equilibrium state, which decays on time scales that exceed conventional

Three-dimensional topological insulators (TIs) have attracted tremendous interest for their possibility to host massless Dirac Fermions in topologically protected surface states (TSSs), which may enable new kinds of high-speed electronics. However, r

The intrinsic bulk behavior of topological insulators (TI) is a key issue for their employment in future device applications. State of the art TIs predominantly suffer from large bulk charge carrier concentrations that mask their extraordinary surfac
