The production of meltwater from glacier ice, which is exposed at the margins of land ice during the summer, is responsible for a large proportion of glacier mass loss. The rate of meltwater production from glacier ice is especially sensitive to its

Entangled photon pairs have promised to deliver a substantial quantum advantage for two-photon absorption spectroscopy. However, recent work has challenged the previously reported magnitude of quantum enhancement in two-photon absorption. We present

In quantum information technology the output of one element often does not match the required frequency and bandwidth of the input of the next element. Here, Allgaieret al. demonstrate simultaneous frequency and bandwidth conversion of single photons

Streak cameras are one of the most common and convenient devices to measure pulsed emission e.g. from semiconductor lightsources with picosecond time resolution. However, they are most sensitive in the visible range and possess low or negligible effi

Snow is a highly complex medium composed of ice crystals of various shapes and sizes. Knowledge of its intrinsic optical properties such as scattering and absorption coefficients is tantamount to radiative transfer models in climate research. The abs

We present an analytical theoretical model describing two-photon absorption (TPA) driven by spontaneous parametric down conversion (SPDC) or by broadband bright squeezed vacuum (BSV) and identify bounds and discuss contributions of coherent and incoh

We demonstrate quantum features in the transition from spontaneous parametric down conversion to bright squeezed vacuum that are relevant to multiphoton spectroscopy, enabling the use of higher flux sources for quantum metrology.

We present a portable photon-counting LiDAR that uses a bistatic geometry to measure pulse broadening in the multiple-scattering regime. A diffusion model allows us to extract optical scattering and absorption coefficients of glacier ice.
