The Carnitine Palmitoyltranferase I (CPT1) catalyzes the rate-limiting step of long-chain fatty acid (LCFA) mitochondrial β-oxidation. The enzyme promotes the conjugation of LCFA with l-carnitine, which allows LCFA to enter the mitochondria matrix.
