The paper deals with induced pole line start permanent magnet synchronous motor. Construction of 4-pole motor is presented. The motor is based on standard IE1 induction motor Sh90L-4 1.5 kW 400 V 50 Hz. Running and starting properties were examined.

The design of an induced pole permanent magnet generator by retrofitting an induction motor is shown. The geometry was parameterized in order to explore the complete design panorama with the finite element method. The highest back EMF case was chosen
