Species identification can be challenging for biologists, healthcare practitioners and members of the general public. Snakes are no exception, and the potential medical consequences of venomous snake misidentification can be significant. Here, we col

In the first hours of a disaster, up-to-date information about the area of interest is crucial for effective disaster management. However, due to the delay induced by collecting and analysing satellite imagery, disaster management systems like the Co

We have measured ρ, the ratio of the real to the imaginary part of the p p forward elastic scattering amplitude, at s =1.8 TeV. Our result is ρ=0.132±0.056; this can be combined with a previous measurement at the same energy to give ρ=0.135±0.04

We present a study of the characteristics of a hybrid image intensifier tube based on a thinned backside Electron Bombarded CCD (EBCCD) with better performance in spatial resolution, single photoelectron detection and gain stability than the conventi

We report a measurement of the p p total cross section at s =1.8 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider, using the luminosity independent method. Our result is σ T =71.71±2.02 mb. We also obtained values of the total elastic and total inelastic cros

The HPD is a nonmultiplicative light detector with typical gain of 1000 to 5000. Its development project, mainly supported by the CERN LAA project and by the INFN group V, was originally intended to find a replacement for the photo multiplier (PM) tu

In the framework of the LAA project at CERN, the RD25 R&D group has built a fully projective, integrated electromagnetic and hadronic, lead/scintillating fibres compensating calorimeter prototype. The prototype consists of 41 modules, each made of a
