The stability analysis for compressed bars with variable rigidity is studied, by using the finite element method (FEM) in Galerkin’s variant. The general shape of elastic and geometrical stiffness matrices are obtained for stepped and tapered bars.

The problem of plates supported on an elastic medium, characterized by several stiffness coefficients corresponding to both linear displacements and rotations, is analysed. This model can be adopted for flexible plates supported on piles. Some partic

Generally, building materials exhibit a rheological behaviour as a direct consequence of their fundamental material properties such as elasticity, viscosity and plasticity. Based on the Kelvin--Voight model, governing the behaviour of the visco-elast

Although the Winkler’s model is a poor representation of the many practical subgrade or subbase materials, it is widely used in soil-structure problems for almost one and a half century. The foundations represented by Winkler model can not sustain

Current petroleum risk assessment considers only narcosis as the mode of action, but several studies have demonstrated that oils contain compounds with dioxin-like, estrogenic or antiestrogenic, and androgenic or antiandrogenic activities. The presen
