Between 27 June and 14 July 2019 aerosol layers were observed by the United Kingdom (UK) Raman lidar network in the upper troposphere and lower stratosphere. The arrival of these aerosol layers in late June caused some concern within the London Volca

Solar prominences observed close to the limb commonly include a bright feature that, from the perspective of the observer, runs along the interface between itself and the underlying chromosphere. Despite several idealized models being proposed to exp

Gyrosynchrotron radiation is produced by solar flares, and can be used to infer properties of the accelerated electrons and magnetic field of the flaring region. This microwave emission is highly dependent on many local plasma parameters, and the vie
The forward fitting of solar flare observations with radiation-hydrodynamic simulations is a common technique for learning about energy deposition and atmospheric evolution during these explosive events. A frequent spectral line choice for this proce

Tools for computing detailed optically thick spectral line profiles out of local thermodynamic equilibrium have always been focused on speed, due to the large computational effort involved. With the Lightweaver framework, we have produced a more flex
During a solar flare, it is believed that reconnection takes place in the corona followed by fast energy transport to the chromosphere. The resulting intense heating strongly disturbs the chromospheric structure, and induces complex radiation hydrody

Tropical Cyclones which develop in the Andaman Sea and the Bay of Bengal during the inter monsoon months (April-May, October-December), move either westwards affecting the east coast of India or recurve to the north or northeast and eventually cross

We have observed up to 8 orders ([ital n]) in the spectra of parametric x-radiation (PXR) in the range 5--40 keV, produced by the interaction of a 90 MeV electron beam with mosaic graphite and single silicon crystals. The measured yields and intensit
