The biennial meetings at São Carlos have helped create a worldwide community of experts and young researchers working on singularity theory, with a special focus on applications to a wide variety of topics in both pure and applied mathematics. The t

We describe the generic geometry of the 3D-crosscap (image of a stable map of a 3-manifold into $$\mathbb {R}^4$$ ) by means of the simultaneous analysis of the generic singularities of height and squared distanced functions on the flag composed by t

We describe how to attach a weighted graph to each stable map from closed surfaces to projective plane and prove that any weighted graph with non negatively weighted vertices is the graph of some stable map from a closed surface to the projective pla

We analyze the generic behavior of the Gauss map in a special case provided by the canal 3-manifolds of curves generically immersed in R 4 and obtain geometrical characterizations for its singularities. We also study the geometrical properties of the

The secant caustic of a planar curve $M$ is the image of the singular set of the secant map of $M$. We analyse the geometrical properties of the secant caustic of a planar curve, i.e. the number of branches of the secant caustic, the parity of the nu

We study the $$\mathbb {Z}$$ -module of first order local Vassiliev type invariants of stable maps of oriented 3-manifolds into $$\mathbb {R}^4$$ . As a previous step, we determine a complete classification of the codimension two germs and multigerms

We can use a moving frame, as in the case of regular plane curves in the Euclidean plane, in order to define the arc-length parameter and the Frenet formula for non-lightlike regular curves in the Lorentz-Minkowski plane. This leads naturally to a we

Based on the fact that conformal maps preserve contacts of surfaces with hyperspheres, we introduce the concept of strong principal lines on surfaces in ℝ4 and obtain conformally invariant differential 1-forms along them. The zeros of these 1-forms

We prove that any bipartite weighted graph can be associated to some stable map from a closed orientable surface to the sphere and obtain necessary and sufficient conditions on a graph to be attached to a fold map of a given degree.
