The immunomodulatory activity of acetylshikonin (ACS) and isobutyrylshikonin (IBS) was studied in female and male inbred Balb/c mice, and in F1 hybrids (Balb/c x C3H). ACS and IBS were isolated from Lithospermum canescens Lehm. (Boraginaceae) roots.
