A “dry” adhesive, polyimide, with increased adhesion to materials used in spacecraft engineering is synthesized and studied. Its adhesion properties are estimated using the method of force–distance curves on the basis of scanning-probe-microsco

The virus particles of live mumps virus vaccine widely used for vaccination in Russia have been detected and visualized by the atomic force microscopy. For quantitative estimation of the number of observed virus particles the special method has been

We report on a new type of single-electron transistor (SET) comprising two highly resistive Cr thin-film strips (~ 1um long) connecting a 1 um-long Al island to two Al outer electrodes. These resistors replace small-area oxide tunnel junctions of tra

We have fabricated and examined several Al single electron transistors whose small islands were positioned on top of a counter electrode and hence did not come into contact with a dielectric substrate. The equivalent charge noise figure of all transi

Complex formation between immunoglobulins and ligands immobilized on mica was studied by atomic force microscopy in two different systems. In the first system, 60-kDa ligands possessing only one site for antibody recognition were used. In the other s

Specific interaction between human IgM and polyclonal antibodies immobilized on support was studied by atomic force microscopy. Human IgMs are responsible for a number of side effects arising during the xenotransplantation of mammalian organs to man.

Optimal conditions of protein scanning by atomic force microscopy were developed. Proteins of different molecular masses (950-11.5 kDa) and different three-dimensional organization were used to investigate the structural features of proteins. The mos

Overlap-type single-electron transistors with the different island to substrate contact areas were studied. We found that background charge noise reduces with the contact area reduction, that clearly indicates to the substrate origin of the noise. Fo
