We studied molecular variability to clarify intraspecific differentiation and phylogenetic relationships in three pine vole species (genus Microtus, subgenus Terricola): Microtus subterraneus, Microtus daghestanicus, and Microtus majori. Multilocus a

—The variability of three pine vole species, as well differences between them, and the phylogenetic relationships were determined by analysis of nucleotide sequence fragments of nuclear genes BRCA1, exon 11 (1473 bp) and XIST (415 bp). The data obt

Results of the analysis of IRBP (interphotoreceptor retinoid-binding protein) nuclear DNA gene variability in birch mice of the genus Sicista reflect monophyly of the betulina group and confirm the substantial genetic isolation of the sibling species

A review of original and published data on invasions of sibling species of Microtus from the group “arvalis” (East European vole, M. rossiaemeridionalis; common vole, M. arvalis; and Altai vole, M. obscurus) is given. Two stages of invasions diff

New European pine vole records from the Novgorod, Kaluga, Voronezh, and Belgorod oblasts were studied by sequencing of the mtDNA cytb gene (1143 bp) and by karyotyping (routine staining and G-banding techniques). The results enabled us to summarize c
