BackgroundWarm autoimmune hemolytic anemia (wAIHA) is characterized by the destruction of red blood cells (RBCs) by pathogenic autoantibodies which bind to RBCs and lead to their clearance in the spleen and liver. Patients with wAIHA can experience a

Activation of T cells is mediated by the engagement of T cell receptors (TCR) followed by calcium entry via store-operated calcium channels. Here we have shown an additional route for calcium entry into T cells – through the low voltage-activated T

High-affinity IgE receptor (FcepsilonRI) cross-linking on mast cells (MCs) induces secretion of preformed allergy mediators (degranulation) and synthesis of lipid mediators and cytokines. Degranulation produces many symptoms of immediate-type allergi

Using the systematic evolution of ligands by exponential enrichment (SELEX) method, we have identified oligonucleotides that bind to human IgE with high affinities and high specificity. These ligands were isolated from three pools of oligonucleotides

The high affinity immunoglobulin E receptor (Fc epsilon RI) and the B and T cell antigen receptors (TCR) are multimeric complexes containing subunits with cytoplasmic antigen recognition activation motifs (ARAMs). The presence of multiple motifs may

Suggestive evidence indicates that immunoglobulin E (IgE)-dependent activation of mononuclear phagocytes plays an important pathogenic role in allergic tissue inflammation. Prevailing opinion holds that low affinity IgE receptors are the relevant IgE

The IgE-FcepsilonRI network plays a central role in allergic inflammation. IgE levels control cell surface levels of FcepsilonRI and, in turn, FcepsilonRI levels modulate the intensity of effector responses. Treatment of allergic patients with anti-I
