We develop a theoretical framework to describe how zero-photon detection may be utilized to enhance laser cooling via the anti-Stokes interaction and, somewhat surprisingly, enable cooling via the Stokes interaction commonly associated with heating.

Throughout quantum science and technology, measurement is used as a powerful resource for nonlinear operations and quantum state engineering. In particular, single-photon detection is commonly employed for quantum-information applications and tests o

Nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in diamond have been successfully coupled to various optical structures to enhance their radiation by the Purcell effect. The participation of many NV centers in these studies may naturally lead to cooperative emission a

We may soon see agencies offering public access to quantum communication networks. In such networks it may be a feature that certain resources are available only to priority users or at a higher user fee, as governed by a protective agency overseeing

We describe an approach to achieve near-perfect unidirectional light-matter coupling to an effective quantum emitter that is formed by a subwavelength array of atoms in the Rydberg-blockade regime. The nonlinear reflection and transmission of such tw

We propose the use of phonon$\unicode{x2013}$mediated interactions as an entanglement resource to engineer Einstein$\unicode{x2013}$Podolsky$\unicode{x2013}$Rosen (EPR) correlations and to perform teleportation of collective spin states in two$\unico

Coherent manipulation of quantum states of light is key to photonic quantum information processing. In this Letter, we show that a passive two-level nonlinearity suffices to implement non-Gaussian quantum operations on propagating field modes. In par

Single-photon sources are necessary components for many prospective quantum technologies. One candidate for a single-photon source is spontaneous parametric down conversion combined with a heralding photon detection. The heralded light pulse from suc

Hilbert space fragmentation provides a mechanism to break ergodicity in closed many-body systems. Here, we propose a realistic scheme to comprehensively explore this exotic paradigm on a Rydberg quantum simulator. We show that the Rydberg Ising model

The Jaynes-Cummings model provides a simple and accurate description of the interaction between a two-level quantum emitter and a single mode of quantum radiation. Due to the multimode continuum of eigenmodes in free space and in waveguides, the Jayn
