In this addendum to our paper (2010 New J. Phys. 12 033024), we point out that an elementary consequence of the strong subadditivity inequality allows us to strengthen one of the main conclusions of that paper.

We show how to recover a discrete twist over an ample Hausdorff groupoid from a pair consisting of an algebra and what we call a quasi-Cartan subalgebra. We identify precisely which twists arise in this way (namely, those that satisfy the local bisec

In this note we show that every Kirchberg algebra in the UCT class is the C ∗ -algebra of a Hausdorff, ample, amenable and locally contracting groupoid. The non-unital case follows from Spielberg’s graph-based models for Kirchberg algebras. Our c

A simple Steinberg algebra associated to an ample Hausdorff groupoidGis algebraically purely infinite if and only if the characteristic functions of compact open subsets of the unit space are infinite idempotents. If a simple Steinberg algebra is alg

We study strongly graded groupoids, which are topological groupoids $\mathcal G$ equipped with a continuous, surjective functor $\kappa: \mathcal G \to \Gamma$, to a discrete group $\Gamma$, such that $\kappa^{-1}(\gamma)\kappa^{-1}(\delta) = \kappa^

We introduce twisted Steinberg algebras over a commutative unital ring $R$. These generalise Steinberg algebras and are a purely algebraic analogue of Renault's twisted groupoid C*-algebras. In particular, for each ample Hausdorff groupoid $G$ and ea

We give a concise introduction to (discrete) algebras arising from etale groupoids (aka Steinberg algebras) and describe their close relationship with groupoid \(C^*\)-algebras. Their connection to partial group rings via inverse semigroups is also e

We unify various étale groupoid reconstruction theorems such as the following:•Kumjian and Renault’s reconstruction from a groupoid C*-algebra;•Exel’s reconstruction from an ample inverse semigroup;•Steinberg’s reconstruction from a grou
