Nonrandom chromosomal abnormalities are found in most human malignancies, particularly leukemias and lymphomas. A characteristic t(1; 19) (q23; p13.3) chromosomal translocation is detected in 5% of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) cases.
