We present the design, fabrication, and characterization of a planar silicon photonic crystal cavity in which large position-squared optomechanical coupling is realized. The device consists of a double-slotted photonic crystal structure in which moti

Nanoparticles of lead sulfide (PbS) have been prepared by a surfactant micelle template-inducing reaction. These nanoparticles were dispersed in ethanol and investigated for their nonlinear optical properties by nanosecond laser pulses. Broadband opt

We present a silicon optomechanical nanobeam design with a dynamically tunable acoustic mode at 10.2 GHz. The resonance frequency can be shifted by 90 kHz/V^2 with an on-chip capacitor that was optimized to exert forces up to 1 $\mu$N at 10 V operati

We use low-coherence interferometry to measure the group-velocity dispersion (GVD) of the fast and slow Bloch modes of structural rocking filters, produced by twisting a highly birefringent photonic crystal fiber to and fro while scanning a focused C

We present a spectrally decorrelated photon pair source bridging the visible and telecom wavelength regions. Tailored design and fabrication of a solid-core photonic crystal fiber (PCF) lead to the emission of signal and idler photons into only a sin

We demonstrate experimentally and theoretically that a nanoscale hollow channel placed centrally in the solid-glass core of a photonic crystal fiber strongly enhances the cylindrical birefringence (the modal index difference between radially and azim

The internal twist profile of structural rocking filters in birefringent photonic crystal fiber is precisely measured by optical side-scattering. Multiple scattering effects are avoided by filling the hollow channels with index-matching fluid.

We present a PCF photon pair source with signal and idler emission in the visible and near-infrared wavelength regions. Our joint spectral coincidence measurements indicate that the generation of spectrally decorrelated photon pairs is possible. © 2

We study the dispersive properties of the eigenmodes of rocking filters produced in highly birefringent photonic crystal fibers. The dispersion changes dramatically close to filter resonance. Rocking filters provide more flexibility in dispersion eng
