The SuperKEKB accelerator in Tsukuba, Japan is providing e$^+$e$^-$ beams for the Belle II experiment since March 2019. To deal with the aimed peak luminosity being forty times higher than the one recorded at Belle, a pixel detector based on DEPFET t

The original Belle II HLT framework was formally upgraded replacing the old IPC based ring buffer with the ZeroMQ data transport to overcome the unexpected IPC locking problem. The new framework has been working stably in the beam run so far, but it

The backend of the Belle II data acquisition system consists of a high-level trigger system, online storage, and an express-reconstruction system for online data processing. The high-level trigger system was updated to use the ZeroMQ networking libra

The upgrades of the Belle experiment and the KEKB accelerator aim to increase the data set of the experiment by the factor 50. This will be achieved by increasing the luminosity of the accelerator which requires a significant upgrade of the detector.

Triggered data acquisition systems provide only limited possibilities of triggering methods. In our paper, we propose a novel approach that completely removes the hardware trigger and its logic. It introduces an innovative free-running mode instead,
