Building on previous work, we have designed a Nd doped fiber for E-band amplification. Modeling results indicate a fiber design that is applicable to telecom amplifiers.

A large mode area fiber coupler based on multi-core spectrally and modally filtered transfer is presented. Relative coupling to the cross-port above 80% was measured. Only fundamental mode transfer was observed given a multimode launch.

We demonstrate 80 nm of tuning in the 1400 nm range with 116 mW maximum output power in an Nd3+ doped fiber oscillator with distributed spectral filtering.

19.2 dB of small signal gain and 1.2 W of average power at 1427 nm are demonstrated in an Nd3+ fiber amplifier. Waveguide design was employed to suppress amplification at 1µm.
